Maple Leaf Foods

Project Description

Maple Leaf foods in the mid 2000s were experiencing a crisis where some of its meat products were contaminated with Listeriosis bacteria. This lead to the unfortunate deaths of 17 people across Canada. Our public Relations manager effectively protected Maple Leaf’s reputation through the use of effective and targeted media relations and press conferences. The idea was to not have Maple Leaf hide its head in the sand and explain the situation and its solutions to the crisis.

How we helped their brand

  1. Located the source of contamination and helped stopped the death toll
  2. Created a transparent media friendly environment for Maple Leaf
  3. Normal sales cycles were re-established due to a rebuilding of trust
